Aguirre, Marina

Marina Aguirre holds a degree in Civil Engineering (specializing in Roads, Canals, and Ports).

After publishing two children’s picture books, in 2017 and 2018 she was recognized in the Castilla y León Young Writers’ Awards for her short story collections The Youngest in the House and We Are All Someone’s Children.

She continued writing picture books with the publications of A Thousand Stories on the Skin and Grandfather’s Seed (Bookolia, 2022 and 2023). In 2023, she received the Algar Award for Illustrated Picture Book for When Our House Split in Two. In 2024, she published her first novel for adults, Summer 2001 (Maclein y Parker), and her first young adult novel, Leave the Lighthouse (Sal del faro, SM).

In 2025, her novel Today We Honor the Living won the SM Gran Angular Award.

She combines her writing career with teaching Mathematics at the Secondary Education level.
