Author

Del Río, José Manuel

José Manuel del Río (A Coruña, 1982) lives in Barcelona, where he works as a criminal lawyer and cultural journalist. His debut novel, Marea Roja (Ediciones B, 2019), a sweeping work on drug trafficking, was a critical success, followed by La Milicia de la Noche (Ediciones B, 2020), which cemented his reputation as one of the most eclectic voices in contemporary publishing.

A brilliant prose writer and master of dialogue, Del Río uses fascinating historical settings to explore the darkest sides of human nature through complex, marginal characters and unflinching realism. His latest book, A bocajarro, is a classic crime novel where goodness and pettiness intertwine, and cruelty brushes up against delicacy thanks to his exceptional style.
