Salva Rubio is a screenwriter, writer, and more. He is an Associate Member of the Writers Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain. He was a finalist for the prestigious SGAE Julio Alejandro Award, and his work has been nominated for an Eisner Award and the Goya for Best Animated Film.
With a Master's in Film and TV Scriptwriting from UC3M, he has worked on five films for various Spanish production companies, including the feature film "Deep," nominated for a Goya. He has also written for Disney Channel. He is also an analyst of film projects and has worked for Alta Films, Colomo PC, Instituto Cervantes, F. Carolina, ICAA, etc.
As a graphic novel writer, he has published "El Fotógrafo de Mauthausen" (The Photographer of Mauthausen) (3 editions and 5 translations) and "Monet, Nómada de la luz" (Monet, Nomad of Light) (8 translations), nominated for the Eisner. He currently writes for the most important European publishers, such as Dupuis, Delcourt, Glénat, and LeLombard.
He has published the spin-off of "El Tango de la Guardia Vieja" (The Tango of the Old Guard) by Arturo Pérez-Reverte with Planeta Cómic. In 2012, he published the novel "Zíngara: buscando a Jim Morrison" (Zingara: Searching for Jim Morrison) for Suma de Letras (Penguin Random House) and has just finished his fourth novel, "Barcelona Swingers."
As an essayist, he is the author of the pioneering book "Metal Extremo: 30 Años de Oscuridad" (Extreme Metal: 30 Years of Darkness) (6 editions), the most extensive work on the subject published in the world. This was followed by a second part, "Metal Extremo: Crónicas del Abismo" (Extreme Metal: Chronicles of the Abyss), and he was chosen to continue the successful series "Save the Cat!" with the publication in the US of "Save the Cat! Goes to the Indies." He is also a regular contributor to Jot Down.
