The inspector in charge of solving a killing in the stately home of an Extremeñan country property believes he has discovered the guilty party. However, an old potter, with a very personal voice, who is one of the outstanding creations of this novel, makes the inspector suspicious doubtful and proceeds to unfold his reasons. Running parallel to this a third narrator goes back to the tragic origins of this actual drama, until both versions merge to reveal the hidden truth.

Cielos de Barro begins like a thriller, a multiple crime and the search for the culprit, it's more than this. The stories that emerge in the reconstruction of this tragic event put forth a landscape of sublime and terrible passions, like love and hate, the confrontation between patrons and serfs, the erotic passion and the rage of wars.
