El manuscrito de piedra
Towards the end of the XV century, Fernando de Rojas, a law student at the University of Salamanca, will investigate the murder of a theology professor . Thus begins a complex web in which the situation of the Jews and converts intertwine, unfettered passions, unorthodox doctrines, the emergence of Humanism, the hidden and subterranean Salamanca, and the history and legend of a fascinating city and a time of great restlessness and change—all come to the fore.
During the course of his adventures, Rojas will have to resolve some enigmas and overcome various traps until discovering what lies hidden beneath appearances. For this, he will have to cover a real and phantasmagorical topography all in one, through a labyrinth crowed by surprises and dangers, in which his enquiry will turn into an adventure of initiation and learning of which he will emerge radically transformed.
“The Stone Manuscript” is steeped in the historical, detective, mystery and campus novels… but at the same time it goes beyond all these genres thanks to its symbolic reach. Luis García Jambrina offers us a novel in favor of Humanism, liberty and freedom, homage to the author of “The Celestina” and to a range of unforgettable characters. It is a passionate story full of subtle messages, intelligently written and with liveliness and large dosages of irony and intrigue.
"A novel breaths and transpires intelligence without bragging about it. The best novel of the year" Tino Pertierra, La Nueva Espana
"It's hard, when one reads this good novel, not to think of The Name of the Rose, by Humberto Eco." José María Pozuelo Yvancos, ABC de las Artes y las Letras.
