A novel that tells the unbelievable history of two men that struggled for finding the formula of porcelain, one of the biggest secrets of 18th Century.

The formula to fabric porcelain remained for centuries as one of the best kept secrets of the Chinese Empire. Nobody in Europe knew how to made porcelain, and monarchs were ready to pay fabulous amounts of money for the sought-after formula. This is the story of Damián Ossorio, a dealer of porcelain settled down in Manila (Philippines), who in 1707 received an assignment from King Philip V of Spain: he should steal the formula of porcelain and hand it over to the Spanish Crown. At the same time, Johann Frederik Böttger, an alchemist working for August II Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, makes a wonderful discovery at his lab in the castle of Albrechtsburg. This discovery would change forever the trade relationships between Europe and China. At the same time, it would also change Damián Ossorio’s life…

It is a true fact that Böttger produced the first European porcelain in Dresden in 1709. Although King August zealously guarded both the alchemist and his formula, as the century went by many European kingdoms succeeded in establishing their own porcelain manufactories, where they produced the rare material nicknamed "white gold".
