The Silence of the Beech Trees

Sorogibel is an ancestral home in the Navarre of the beginning of the first half of the twentieth century, close to the Pyrenees border. Mieltxo and Cataline live there with their children, and that is where the advent of the Spanish Republic and subsequent Civil War will catch them by surprise. Some will be sent into exile, others will flee throughout the Basque countryside and still others will have to survive in the Pamplona of the harsh years of hunger and repression.
