Upon returning to Madrid from New York to bury his father, who died from mysterious circumstances, Pepe Dalmau, decides to make the most of his visit to rekindle his relationship with his neighbor Natalia, daughter of the renowned bookseller Mr. Santos.

While resuming contact with Natalia, she suddenly disappears. Mr. Santos then confesses to Pepe that he is being blackmailed; his daughter has been kidnapped for the incompletion of a “commercial” agreement; he’s been commissioned to rob a book from the National Library of Madrid.

Faced with the inability of Mr. Santos to complete his commission, Pepe Dalmau offers to commit the robbery with the intention to save Natalia.

However, the problems have only just begun, when Pepe Dalmau reads the first chapter of the stolen book, he discovers that the story narrated is his own, the very story that he, himself is reading….
