La capital del mundo
(The capital of the world) Ricardo Malpartida, private detective of organized crimes, investigates the murder of a famous scientist in the city of Bilbao, each time more and more obsessed with presenting a good image to the world. In his particular search, Malpartida will have to face up to numerous ghosts, his own as well as other people’s, which will bring out the darkest side of the human being.
With lucidity and a good dose of humor, Gonzalo Garrido develops a plot that criticizes the conformism of our society, as well as the abuse of power and the manipulation of information. Throughout the investigation the readers will enter into a spiral from which they will not be able to remove themselves until the end of the novel.
“La capital del mundo is a novel that flows in a splendid way, that devours the reader and that shows the inner depths of a contemporary Bilbao full of contradictions.”
From the successful novel Las flores de Baudelaire it has been said:
“A well told plot that ends enveloping the reader. A hurray for the author!”
Eduardo Mendoza
