La noche de Valia

The young Russian, Vàlia and the American marine Bill have a romance that in 1945, with the end of the war is suddenly cut short. Bill disappears without giving any explanation and, later on, Vàlia is accused of espionage by the Soviet authorities. Separated from the mother and the two-year old daughter, Vàlia seeks strength in her friendship with other prisoners and in theater performances, in order to bear the gulag for so many years. When she is finally freed, she meets a daughter she hardly knows, and with Bill, now a renowned scientist in the United States.

Valia's Night is the dramatic and inspiring story of a great love faced with the adversities of History. Monika Sgustova met the real Vàlia a few years back in a an apartment in the outskirts of Moscow.
