La partida

This novel is set in Barcelona during the beginning of the Spanish Civil War and is focused on the character of Anselmo Pardo, a policeman who meets his best friends every Friday in a bar to play Domino. After the outbreak of the war he has to adapt himself to the new conditions carried by the war. Alongside Anselmo we will find many other characters that are also conditioned by the war and, in some aspects, her own children: a fascist spy, a Russian advisor or some true characters of the time. Each of them will act and react according to their own needs and interests, but all of them are also looking for the same: to win the game.
