In the midst of the Renaissance, Joan and Anna, far from their homeland, manage to open a bookstore that becomes tangled up in the center of the intrigue in Rome. The ruling establishment is a symbol of the Spanish clan known as the Borgia, who govern the city with an iron hand, as such it is a the Nobel Roman families have targeted the Borgia for destruction and are devising the fall of the Pope Alexander VI and of their ambitious sons, Juan, César and Lucrecia.

Joan and Anna are happy in spite of the betrayal, conspiracies, adulteries, wars and deaths that surround them. Nevertheless, Juan Borgia, a young man who doesn’t take no for an answer, and whose father, the Pope, has granted his son his full power, has his eyes set on Anna.

From this moment the matrimony will also have to face the power of their protectors, the Borgia, to save their love, their family and their dignity.

 

This is the beginning of the feat that will carry the bookseller to fight with the Gran Capitan to conquer Naples, and convert him into a friar, to overthrow Savonarola in Florence, to face the Spanish Inquisition and the plague, to fight against pirate ships in the Mediterranean and to participate in the miseries, the glory and the fall of some unique and fascinating characters: the Borgia
