"Apocalipsis Z" in Poland and Galicia
30/12/2013This Christmas, two books of Manel Loureiro's zombie trilogy have been published in Poland and Galicia: Apocalipsis Z. Los días oscuros saw the light of day as Apokalipsa Z. Mroczne Dni, published by Muza, and Apocalipsis Z. El comienzo del fin turned itself into Apocalipse Z. O comezo da fin, published by Urco Editora. The trilogy, which Loureiro posted at first in a blog and then, after having been read by more than 1,5 million people, was published by Plaza y Janés, has been translated into English (Amazon Crossing), French (Panini France), Italian (Casa Editrice Nord Sud), German (Heyne Verlag), Portuguese (Ediçoes ASA in Portugal and Editorial Planeta do Brasil in Brasil), Slovak (Premedia Group), Hungarian (Konyvmolykepzo Kiado), Turkish (Monokl), Japanese (T. O. Entertainment) and Korean (Minumin), and has seen the light of day in other Spanish-speaking countries such as México, Chile or Argentina, becoming an unanimous success that has turned it into one of the Spanish best selling works in digital format all around the world. The Author of This Book Is a Zombie. Published under the pen name “The Abad Brothers.” One day the brothers Abad visit an old bazaar in their small seaside town to have its resourceful owner repair a damaged painting for their mother. When they retrieve the canvas a few days later, the man in the painting is obscured by a bizarre scrawl of a furious face. The shop owner says it’s the work of his new assistant but, far from displeased, the brothers are deeply intrigued. They ask to see other works by the mysterious artist, and are enthralled by their unusual subject matter—the cross section of a burial place, an old woman floating upside down in a room, a tall man with a top hat concealed behind a window, and more. The brothers deem these drawings to be the work of a true artist struggling to tell a story. They urge the owner to take them to the backroom where his assistant works, and meet a large, strange man who stares vacantly at them and at first refuses to talk. With their encouragement he begins to tell, albeit with great difficulty, an almost unbelievable tale. And it starts as it means to go on because his name, he claims, is Robinson Dostoievsky … The boys record a series of interviews with him to publish them in book form. Soon, they find themselves literally drawn into a terrifying story that confronts childhood’s curiosity with the extraordinary, uncanny events surrounding a treasure hunt ... and rituals of witchcraft. Loureiro, Manel
Manel Loureiro has a degree in Law from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Galicia). Combining his studies in this historical city with television projects, he was an anchor man forvarious television programs. From writing screenplays he found his interest in writing. His first novel Apocalypse Z became an immediate success and cult phenomenon on the internet. It has had hundreds of thousands of readers worldwide. Apocalypse Z, Dark days, the sequel with the same heroes and their fight to survive in a world dominated by the Undead, has won Manel Loureiro the title of the first author of terror zombie novels set in Spain. He published Twenty (Planeta), The Door (Planeta, 2020), and The Bone Thief (Planeta, 2020). When the Storm Passes (Planeta, 2024) is his latest novel.

Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End, published in Poland
22/10/2013The first book of the bestselling trilogy written by Manel Louriero, Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End, was published in Poland at the beginning of the October, by MUZA Publishing House (Apokalipsa Z, Poczatek Konca, translated by Joanna Ostrowska y Grzegorz Ostrowski). With its release, the publishing house invited the author to visit the city of Warsaw and to inaugurate the promotion for this novel. During his stay Manel Loureiro was able to visit with his editors and speak with the press. MUZA is extremely optimistic about the zombie trilogy and is already preparing for the next two releases.
