Julio Crespo MacLennan (Madrid, 1970) is a graduate and doctor in History from the University of Oxford. He has taught at universities in Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States and has been a visiting professor as the Prince of Asturias Chair at Tufts University and Santander Iberian Studies Fellow at St. Antony's College, University of Oxford. He served as cultural attaché and director of the Cervantes Institute in Istanbul and Dublin. Currently, he is a professor of History of International Relations at IE University. He also teaches at the Ortega y Gasset University Institute and represents this institution before the Europaeum organization. He is the author of several books and numerous articles on the contemporary history of Spain and Europe, including "Forjadores de Europa" (Destino, 2009), "España en Europa del ostracismo a la modernidad" (Marcial Pons, 2004), and "Spain and the Process of European Integration" (Palgrave, 2000). He frequently collaborates as a columnist with the newspaper ABC as well as with various cultural magazines and international press outlets. In recent years, he has focused on the study of European imperial history and the legacy of the great powers of Europe in the world.
