El Salvador
Roxana Méndez (San Salvador). Writer and translator. She has a degree in English Philology and a Master's Degree in Spanish and Latin American Literature. In 2019, her children's poetry book Flying Machines was awarded the Premio Fundación Cuatro Gatos in the city of Miami. In 2012 she won the Premio Alhambra de Poesía Americana for unpublished work in Granada, Spain. In El Salvador she has won the Premio Gran Maestre de Poesía in 2003, as well as national competitions of Narrativa Infantil in 2011, and of Poesía Infantil in 2016.
She has published the following books: Flying Machines (Poesía infantil, Ed. Valparaíso, 2018); The rain of 1979 (Ed. Valparaiso, Spain, 2018); The secret Book (Poesía infantil, DPI, El Salvador, 2017); The Sky at the Window (Ed. Bombadil, Sweden, 2011) and Memory (Universidad Tecnológica, El Salvador, 2004). She has been included in poetry anthologies such as: The Open Canon (Visor, Spain, 2015); Solidary Humanism (Ed. Visor, Spain, 2015); Theater Under my Skin (Ed. Kalina, 2014); Poetry in the Face of Uncertainty (Visor, 2013); Poetry of the Twentieth Century in El Salvador (Viewer, Spain, 2012); Open Doors (Fondo de Cultura Económica, México, 2011) or The Wound in the Sun (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, 2008).
