Sergio Missana holds a Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Literature from Stanford University and currently teaches Latin American literature at the Stanford University Program in Latin America Santiago, Chile. He has published the novels El invasor (The Invader), Movimiento falso (False Movement; Finalist of the Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Award 2001), La calma (The Calm), El día de los muertos (The Day of the Dead). He is also author of the critical study La máquina de pensar de Borges (Borges’ Thinking Machine). He co-authored, with his daughter Maya (b. 2001), the children’s books Luis el tímido (Shy Luis), and Boris y las manzanas (Boris and Apples). Las muertes paralelas (Parallel Deaths) is his latest novel.
