Mercedes de Vega is an author with a degree in Sociology and Political Science. She has lived and worked in New York, USA, Barcelona and Madrid, Spain. She is currently living in Montreal. De Vega studied literature at the Complutense University of Madrid and has participated in a number of writing workshops. She frequently collaborates in various literary magazines and is a member of the jury for the Short Story Prize, Resonances.
De Vega has published a book of short stories; Stories from a Seismograph, Ediciones Atlantis, and various collective publications such as the short story anthologies; Sofia’s Thread (2011), translated and edited by the University of Sofia, Bulgaria; Madrid Hits the Hits Crisis (2012) and Madrid Corruption (2013), all three books were published by Ediciones Atlantis Madrid.
The English Professor was her first novel, published by Huerga and Fierro Editores. After that she published When we were alive (2015), Every happy families (2018), Laura Cohen’s Deep Sleep (2020) and An unknown story: Marie Jelen (2021)
She writes usually in her blog; Escribir…, (Write) one of the most popular blogs online. Her writing is highly recognized in online and in social networks.
